Orthodontic-(Straighting the Teeth)

We have variety of braces to improve patients facial appearance, through orthodontic treatment, problem like crooked teeth, spacing , crowded teeth, overgrowth and undergrowth of the jaws are corrected.

Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that corrects teeth and jaws that are positioned improperly. Crooked teeth and teeth that do not fit together correctly are harder to keep clean, are at risk of being lost early due to tooth decay and periodontal disease, and cause extra stress on the chewing muscles that can lead to headaches, TMJ syndrome and neck, shoulder and back pain. Teeth that are crooked or not in the right place can also detract from one's appearance.

Benefits of orthodontics:

  • Good appearance, great smile and improved self esteem
  • Straight teeth are easier to clean reducing the risk of decay and gum disease
  • Reduced risk of accidental injury to protruding teeth
  • Re-arranging teeth to improve the bite
  • Elimination of stress on jaw points and abnormal tooth wear
  • Preparation of teeth for future restorative care

Children’s Orthodontics

We believe that early treatment is beneficial when needed, and many patients are pleasantly surprised to find that their treatment can be carried out at an early age. A beautiful smile together with straight teeth that function well can have a tremendous effect on children’s self esteem, self confidence and long term dental health. It is a great investment for life! If you are self conscious about your teeth or your mates at school tease you, YOU can do something about it. Orthodontics can give you real confidence.

Fixed Braces These are the most common type of orthodontic braces. They are often known as ‘train tracks’.The advantages are that they are able to fine-tune the position of the teeth reliably and with modern sophisticated designs, they are smaller and relatively fast acting to reduce treatment time. The main types of fixed braces are:
1. Metal/Stainless Steel Fixed Braces
2. Tooth Coloured/Ceramic Braces

Removable Braces Invisalign Teen®

Invisalign Teen® takes a modern approach to straightening teeth. With a series of clear removable aligners that gradually straighten your teeth, Invisalign Teen is comfortable, affordable and effective. Without brackets and wires, you’ll have the confidence of a great smile even during treatment. Each aligner also comes with a small, inconspicuous Blue Dot Wear Indicator, which helps you know if you’re ready for your next set of aligners. Invisalign Teen has the added advantage that you can continue brushing and flossing the way you normally do. Without fixed braces, it’s easier to maintain better oral hygiene.

Other Removable Braces

Removable braces are custom-made, consisting of a plastic brace with metal wire components. It simply clips onto the teeth and over time, it brings about the required change in their position. It can be easily inserted and removed for cleaning. Another specific type of removable brace is called Functional Brace. These are designed for growing children, (age 7-10) and adolescents, (age 11-14). The combination of effects on the jaw and surrounding soft tissues can bring and assist a change in the position of the children’s teeth and facial profile and can provide ideal children’s braces for teeth.

Mouth Guards

We highly recommend that mouth guards are worn whilst playing contact sports (even trampolining or cycling). If your child has fitted braces, they can get special mouth guards to fit around the braces. If they wear removable braces, they should wear a mouth guard instead of a brace during sports, keeping the brace in a protective case. elleven can also provide tailored mouth guards when treatment is completed.

Adult Orthodontics

Braces are no longer just for children and it’s never too late to have a beautiful smile that you can be proud of. Nobody can deny that straight teeth are visually appealing so for most people, a spectacular smile is the most obvious benefit of orthodontics. A beautiful smile leads to enhanced self-esteem and is universally accepted sign of health and beauty. When teeth and bite aren’t straight, health, function and aesthetics are compromised. After your braces come off, you’ll definitely feel more self-confident!

The demand for adult orthodontics has increased dramatically over the past two decades. This is due to a number of factors:

  • a greater awareness of the importance of an aesthetic smile
  • an appreciation of how orthodontics can facilitate restorative dentistry
  • the introduction of more aesthetically pleasing and socially acceptable appliances.
Even if you have had braces before, mild irregularities may have developed due to the lack of retainer wear. In this case, a short course of treatment can return them to perfect alignment again. Some patients will also wear braces on the advice of their dentist to preserve or improve their dental health, for example, to improve bite and function for access.

As long as your gums and teeth are healthy there are NO real age limits to orthodontic treatment.

If you are thinking of having orthodontic treatment as an adult you may have some questions you would like answered first.

Why might I need orthodontic treatment?

Common reasons for having orthodontic treatment are:

  • To improve the appearance of the teeth and face.
  • To improve the health of the teeth and gums.
  • To improve function i.e. to make it easier to eat.
  • To facilitate restorative treatment i.e. implant, veneers, crown and bridge work.
  • Combined orthodontics and orthognathic surgery in adult patients who have finished growth.

Is it always possible to have braces as an adult?

The demand for adult orthodontics is increasing especially when now we can offer more aesthetically pleasing appliances. Age is not limiting factor for having an orthodontic treatment, however it is important that you have a full comprehensive consultation before commencing the treatment to ensure your dental health is stable.
